Nomination Process

Emeriti and Honored Staff status is a prestigious honor, which is awarded through a nomination process. 

Process Details

An employee's department lead, unit head, or direct supervisor may put forth an individual to be considered for honored emeritus/a status by completing the nomination form. Employees are welcome to discuss their interest in receiving this honor with their leaders, but their department/unit head or direct supervisor should fill out the nomination form. 

Please submit nominations at least 6 weeks prior to the employee's retirement date to ensure adequate processing time.

After submission, the nomination will automatically go through the approval process. Nominators and all approvers will be notified of the outcome via e-mail. If approved, the employee will receive a hardcopy letter from the Office of the President.


To be eligible for honored emeriti status, the employee must be:

  • retiring from the University in good standing
  • have worked at the University for a minimum of 10 years
