Society Benefits

Society membership includes the following benefits. If you have any questions about how to activate or use these benefits, please contact the Society Coordinator.

Minnesota State Mankato "MavCard" – An Emeriti ID card allows Society members easy access to card-sensitive services on campus, including library checkout opportunities, on-campus athletic events and more. The MavCard can also be used as a photo ID card. 

Email – Society members receive access to a new email address that can be used for communications.

Library Services – Society members may use their Emeriti MavCard to access library materials and services, including DVDs, books, audiovisual equipment and computers.

Parking - Society members are given free white parking permit privileges on campus. With a white permit, Society members may park for FREE in the Visitors Paylot or in purple permit stalls. After 3 p.m., white permit holders may also park in green residence hall stalls and gold stalls found on Maywood, West Road (Rugby Gold Area across from Sears) and Lot 11/11a (Student Union). White permit holders may also park in gold permit stalls during the summer. (Weekend parking is free.) 

TODAY Magazine – Society members are included in our subscription list for the TODAY magazine.

Microsoft 365 – Society members have access to the web versions of Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneDrive, SharePoint and other Microsoft products. To access these, go to https://mavmail.mnsu.edu and sign in with StarID@go.minnstate.edu and StarID password. Use the waffle at the top left corner to navigate to the programs.

The Fountain – Society members will continue to have access to the University’s online source for faculty and staff news and events, though their Microsoft 365 online access. Navigate to https://mnscu.sharepoint.com/sites/MNSU-Fountain/ and log in as noted above.

Computer and Software Purchases – Society members may trade in old computer equipment for store credit and purchase new equipment with educational discounts at the Campus Computer Store. Members may also shop online.

Theatre – Society members may receive one non-transferable complimentary ticket to any Ted Paul Mainstage or Highland Summer Theatre production, including events in the Andreas Black Box Theatre. To receive complimentary tickets, simply call the Box Office at 507-389-6661 during box office hours (Monday–Friday, 4–6 p.m. and one hour before performances). These complimentary tickets are based on availability, and free admission is not guaranteed due to limited seating.

Music – Society members may receive one free general admission ticket to any Department of Music event with the purchase of one general admission ticket to the event. To receive the free ticket, bring your Emeriti MavCard to the will-call table 30 minutes before the event. These complimentary tickets are based on availability, and free admission is not guaranteed due to limited seating.

Athletic Tickets for On-Campus Games – Society members may receive one free general admission ticket to any on-campus regular-season MNSU athletic event. To receive your complimentary ticket, bring your Emeriti MavCard to the will-call window the day of the event. These complimentary tickets are based on availability, and free admission is not guaranteed. This offer only applies to athletic events held on the MNSU campus. Men's Hockey games at the Mayo Clinic Health System Event Center are excluded from this offer.

Campus Recreation and Fitness Center – Society members may purchase an annual membership to the Fitness Center (Otto Recreation Center) at a reduced rate of $150 annually or $75 per semester. The annual membership also includes access to group exercise classes and Highland pool. Emeriti also have free access (no membership purchase required) to Myers Field House for walking and jogging Monday-Friday, 12:00-1:00 p.m. and after 5:00 p.m. on weeknights during the academic year. Members may also contact Campus Recreation for recreational supply rentals, including tents, sleeping bags and canoes, at reasonable rates.

To receive your emeriti benefits through Campus Recreation, please visit mycampusrec.mnsu.edu to create your campus recreation account. After creating your account, please contact Ben Nelson at benjamin.nelson-2@mnsu.edu or by phone at 507-389-1330 to have your membership discounts and free Myers Field House access connected to your account. 

Student Union Services/Maverick Bullpen Discounts – The Student Union's game room provides Society members bowling and billiards at the student rate ($2 per bowling game/$4 per hour billiards). Simply show your Emeriti MavCard to staff.

Business Cards - Society members may receive one box of business cards per year free of charge. To order cards, fill out the form at https://link.mnsu.edu/cards and choose "Emeriti" under Payment Method. Contact James Mackey in University Creative Production at james.mackey@mnsu.edu or 507-389-1181 with any questions. Emeriti Gatherings – The University will hold annual gatherings in your honor. Please make sure University Advancement has your preferred email address to ensure you receive invitations.

Lifelong Learners – All MSU retirees may receive a one-year complimentary Silver (basic) membership in Mankato Area Lifelong Learners, the MSU-sponsored non-profit that offers education experiences and social activities for adults ages 55+.
